Sesilja Aranko appointed as Assistant Professor at Aalto University

Sesilja Aranko has been appointed to a tenure-track Assistant Professor position at Aalto University, Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems as of 1 September 2024. The field of the professorship is Protein & Cellular Engineering.


Sesilja received her doctorate from the University of Helsinki in 2014. After her graduation, she worked as a researcher at the University of Helsinki and Aalto University and as a visiting researcher at EMBL Hamburg. More recently, she has been working as a Senior Scientist at Aalto University, leading her own research group. Alongside her research, Sesilja has experience in teaching both at BSc and MSc levels.


Sesilja has received several major grants, including an Academy of Finland project in 2020 and an Emerging Investigator Grant (approx. 1.34M€) from the Novo Nordisk Foundation in 2023. Read more about the Sesilja's research at her group webpage at the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystem.
